To date, one might think that it is always the analytic tradition of classical cognitive science versus the synthetic tradition of embodied cognitive science. This week we use a particular content area, walking, to make the point that analysis can inform synthesis, that synthesis can inform analysis, and that both approaches complement one another. We see this illustrated in two walking machines: a LEGO passive dynamic walker, and a LEGO Strandbeest.
