Braitenberg Vehicles

Another kind of robot that I have used for in-class demonstrations of the synthetic approach are Lego Dacta versions of some simple Braitenberg vehicles. This page has information about how to build them, how to program them, and also has some videos of their behavior. Two different vehicles -- our versions of Braitenberg's "Vehicle 2 : Fear and Aggression" are explored: one with same-side connections between light sensors and motors, the other with crossed-side connections between sensors and motors. Which one follows the light? To see a video, click on the icon that represents the desired format (MPEG, AVI, or QuickTime).
