Another kind of robot that I have used for in-class demonstrations of the synthetic approach are Lego Dacta versions of some simple Braitenberg vehicles. Two different vehicles -- our versions of Braitenberg's "Vehicle 2 : Fear and Aggression" are explored: one with same-side connections between light sensors and motors, the other with crossed-side connections between sensors and motors.
