How To Build A Science Fair Project
Here are some pointers about the steps that you could follow in
building a science fair project. As the weeks go on, more information
will be added to this section of the website.
- Choose a general topic that interests you.
- Find some information about this general topic.
- Use this information to help you
focus on a very specific topic.
At this stage, it would help if you could turn this specific topic
into a very specific question.
- Start your log book. The first entry could be your specific question.
- Think of a study that you could do that would help you answer your
question.
- Gather your materials for your study.
- Conduct your study. Make careful observations, and put all of your
records in your log book.
- Once your study is done, figure out how the observations help you
answer your question.
- Write down your conclusions. Is another study required? Do you
have time to do it?
- Plan your display. Think of it as a book that tells the story of
all of the research that you have done -- starting with the question,
and ending with your answer.
- Build your display.
- Practice a 5 minute talk in which you tell someone about your project.
- Present your project at the King Edward Science Fair, and possibly
at other Fairs!
