How To Build A Science Fair Project

Here are some pointers about the steps that you could follow in building a science fair project. As the weeks go on, more information will be added to this section of the website.
  1. Choose a general topic that interests you.
  2. Find some information about this general topic.
  3. Use this information to help you focus on a very specific topic. At this stage, it would help if you could turn this specific topic into a very specific question.
  4. Start your log book. The first entry could be your specific question.
  5. Think of a study that you could do that would help you answer your question.
  6. Gather your materials for your study.
  7. Conduct your study. Make careful observations, and put all of your records in your log book.
  8. Once your study is done, figure out how the observations help you answer your question.
  9. Write down your conclusions. Is another study required? Do you have time to do it?
  10. Plan your display. Think of it as a book that tells the story of all of the research that you have done -- starting with the question, and ending with your answer.
  11. Build your display.
  12. Practice a 5 minute talk in which you tell someone about your project.
  13. Present your project at the King Edward Science Fair, and possibly at other Fairs!
